The ambition

Less application work.
Still personal.

Could Career Scout help people tailor their applications without repeating a long process for every job?

The challenge

A simpler application.
Several teams behind it.

The hackathon theme was AI-driven hiring: exploring how backends from different teams could work together through Career Scout, Indeed’s existing AI for job seekers.

An engineer-formed team was looking for PM/UX support. I joined to shape the job-seeker experience around personalised, one-click applications, replacing the usual multi-step process.

My contribution

Make the complexity
disappear from the experience.

I designed all the screens and flows as implementation guidance for the engineers. We discussed the underlying technical difficulties together, then worked out how the UI could accommodate them without passing that complexity on to job seekers.

My focus
The job-seeker journey, interface screens and application flows.
Engineering’s focus
Connecting the AI with job-seeker profiles and résumés, job descriptions, and employer/company background.
The design work

Give the idea a flow
engineers could work from.

I mapped the journey from Career Scout’s suggestion through application review, résumé editing and confirmation. The screens gave us a shared reference for discussing the experience and its implementation within the overnight deadline.

Career Scout would turn an employer invitation into a tailored application, ready for the job seeker to review, edit and submit.

Working together

A shared experience.
A plan to build it.

Our final presentation brought the UX prototype together with a cross-team collaboration plan, connecting the job-seeker journey with the engineering work needed to support it.

Taking the idea forward would also require further product and legal review, including privacy considerations and alignment with Indeed policy.

What happened next

A starting point
for Career Scout.

After the presentation, the Career Scout team took our prototype as a starting point for further development. The feature was not released, and I don’t know how that work was subsequently prioritised.

My contribution was turning a cross-team technical possibility into an experience people could see and discuss: a clear application flow, backed by a plan for collaboration.
