A bit about me.
And how I got here.
I started out designing and building websites. Since then, I’ve worked with Apple Store customers, led regional design teams, and designed hiring tools at Indeed. Each role has changed how I think about design.

It started at my mum’s laundry shop.
My mum bought me my first computer when I was in high school—a 486 PC, if I remember rightly. I ended up using it to help with the paperwork at her laundry shop in Hong Kong.
She spent Saturday nights sorting handwritten receipts. I learned Excel and made a way to print the receipts instead, putting what I was learning on the computer to use in the shop.
I didn’t think of it as UX. I just saw something that took my mum’s time and wanted to make it easier.
Web, visual & interaction design
Early roles, 2000–2007EF, 2007–2011
Designing and building websites.
Learning how the two fit together.
I started professionally in 2000, working across websites, visual design, interactive media, and front-end development. Building the things I designed helped me understand how visual choices affect the way an interface works.
At EF, from 2007 to 2011, I worked on the visual redesign of englishtown.com, reusable marketing emails and sales pages, and guidelines for an online learning platform. That meant thinking about consistency across a whole website, not just individual pages.
Apple / 2011–2013
Creative & retail trainingWorking with customers.
Learning to explain things clearly.
As a Creative at the Apple Store in Hong Kong, I worked directly with customers. I had to understand what they wanted to do and find a way to help that made sense to them.
As a Market Trainer, I planned and ran classroom and in-store training for more than 2,000 employees across five new Apple Stores. I also worked with market leaders and colleagues in localisation, retail design, and instructional design on the store experience.

Teaching was a big part of the job.
Whether I was helping a customer or training a colleague, I needed to listen, explain clearly, and give them time to ask questions.
That still matters in my UX work and workshops. Explaining an idea isn’t the same as helping someone understand it.
SEEK Asia / 2013–2015
Art Director / UX ManagerSet a shared direction.
Trust the designers using it.
At SEEK Asia, I combined hands-on visual design with managing and supporting designers. I led the email framework’s design, implementation, rollout, and international guidelines.
- Direct management
- I managed and mentored two visual designers and two interns, and worked with contractors and agency partners.
- Regional leadership
- Marketing designers across seven regions had a dotted-line reporting relationship with me. I set design direction, reviewed work, and provided processes and international guidelines.
- Design library
- I also led a separate jobsDB and JobStreet design-library initiative with five engineers and two UX designers.

Indeed / 2015–2026
Product UX, mentoring & facilitationWork through the problem.
Help the team do it together.
At Indeed, I worked on hiring products through research, interaction design, and prototyping. On the Employer Mobile App, I brought research and feedback-email digests into planning, ran sessions, and helped product managers and the engineering lead compare opportunities and shape the roadmap.
For Virtual Recruiter, I prepared and facilitated a remote design sprint with more than 40 people. My role combined facilitation and coaching with hands-on UX work. Afterwards, I continued testing and revising the design with research and the designers.
As the first UX Lead for Indeed University in 2019, I managed one associate product manager and three engineers, and organised support from more than ten UX colleagues. I created facilitator guides, prepared advisors for workshops, and kept the support going as teams developed their ideas.
Alongside product work, I served as iPride APAC Co-Chair from 2016 to 2023, supporting LGBTQ+ education and consultation, Tokyo Rainbow Pride participation, and benefits and policy review with HR partners and an external legal consultant.
Falmouth University
MA User Experience Design, 2026Test the idea.
Be willing to change it.
During my master’s in User Experience Design, I spent more time on research, prototyping, and reflecting on my decisions. My final project, Flicker, explored meeting people through shared activities.
Testing showed that people needed to understand the idea before signing up. I changed the flow so they could browse events first, rather than spending more time explaining the app during registration.
See what changed in FlickerI care about the details.
And the people doing the work.
I like working on how something looks and how it works. I also care about how the team gets there: clear feedback, useful guidelines, and time to help people develop their skills.
